Palaces & Gardens of Portugal
September 12th to 21st, 2020
Postponed until Fall, 2021. Contact Charlie with questions.
Come tour the majestic palaces and romantic gardens of Portugal with me this fall. Portugal is a destination not as often visited compared to Italy, France, Germany, and Spain, but has an amazing rich culture, fantastic ancient palaces, exquisite gardens, and tasty food and wine. We’ll be exploring them all so come join me!
We’ll start in Porto in Northern Portugal. The home of Port wines. Northern Portugal is cooler and wetter than the South allowing for a wider variety of plants to grow. The annual flowers, vegetables, and summer gardens will still be in full bloom as we tour the area in September.
Highlights in the Porto area include:
Local countryside Villas and Wineries featuring port wines, beautiful homes, and outstanding gardens
An Outdoor International Flower Show in the ancient Roman village of Ponte de Lima
An Urban Organic Herb Farm producing 180 different aromatic plants from seed to final product. There’s an herbal tea house where we can taste several different organic herbal teas.
Famous historic sites, gardens, and churches
Then we’ll head to Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. On the way we’ll stop in Coimbra and visit the Botanical Garden and historic city that was the inspiration for many of the settings in the Harry Potter movies.
Highlights in the Lisbon area include:
National Palace and Gardens, considered the Versailles of Portugal
Fronteira Palace and Gardens with its amazing historic, Azulejos tile work.
A Hand Painted Azulejos Tile Making Factory and store
Cork forest and facility and see where cork trees grow and all the varieties of things made from cork
Fado music performance with dinner at an authentic Portuguese Restaurant
So, join me as we explore Portugal with all its rustic charm, rich food and culture, and diverse gardens. As with all our trips we only take 20+ people so, Space is Limited.
To reserve your place on the trip, send us a $100 totally refundable deposit and we’ll make sure you have a seat on the bus.
We will have the final tour itinerary and land costs available by mid-March. Flights are not included in the trip.
I suggest if you are interested in the trip to send in the $100 refundable deposit to save a spot. My trips usually fill up quickly. After you see the final itinerary and cost, you can always get your deposit back if you decide not to go.
And I’ll be seeing you in the gardens of Portugal this fall.
Please reserve my place (submit one form per traveler).
A deposit of $100 per person payable to Goodspeed & Bach is enclosed.
Your deposit is refundable until the tour cost and itinerary are published.
